Poker Run To Be Held To Ease Boys Funeral Expenses

The family members of an 11 year-old Tiffin, Ohio boy who died in a hit and run accident late August decided to hold a fund raiser in the form of a poker run to help ease the expenses that they incurred from his funeral.

The young boy, Alex Barchus, was killed while riding his mini-bike on Seneca Country Road on Aug. 24. He was hit by a 1997 Dodge Caravan, whose driver fled from the scene on foot but was not caught after an extensive search by authorities. The suspect remains at large.

Registration for the poker run will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon of Sept. 30 at Ken Herman Body Repair, located at 5290 E. Ohio 18, Republic. The cost of entry is $10 per head, and all proceeds from the poker run will be used to cover Alex's funeral expenses.

The stops for the poker run include Smitty's in Tiffin, the Blue Eagle in Bettsville, Clause's Bar in Bascom, Bel-Mel Boat Landing in Tiffin, Murray's Refinery in Tiffin and Huppy's in West Lodi. Hotdogs and chili will be provided at the final leg of the game.

The family says that a high poker hand pays $100. They likewise noted that there will be no underage drinking and minors must be accompanied by an adult.
